murmr (“we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
Account information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and password (securely hashed, never stored in plain text).
Content you create: Tasks, calendar events, grocery lists, journal entries, voice recordings (processed and not retained as audio — see below), fitness and nutrition logs, sleep and water logs, and cycle tracking data if you choose to use that feature.
Voice data: When you use voice capture, your recording is sent to OpenAI’s transcription service to convert it to text. The audio itself is not stored by murmr after transcription completes.
Usage data: Basic technical information such as app version and general usage patterns, used only to improve the app and diagnose issues.
Health and cycle data: If you use the Health page, including cycle tracking, this data is treated with the same security as all other account data and is never shared with third parties for advertising or any other purpose.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the app’s features
- To process your voice notes and journal entries through AI services (OpenAI and Anthropic) in order to sort and understand them
- To send you app-related notifications you’ve enabled (reminders, briefs)
- To improve and maintain the app
Third-Party Services
murmr uses the following services to operate:
- Supabase — our database and authentication provider, which stores your account and app data securely
- OpenAI — processes voice transcription and thought-sorting
- Anthropic (Claude) — processes journal entry analysis
These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually restricted from using your data to train their own models or for any purpose beyond providing their service to us.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption, both in transit and at rest. Access to your data is restricted using row-level security so that only you can access your own information.
Your Rights
- Access and review your data at any time within the app
- Edit or delete any entry you’ve created
- Delete your entire account and all associated data permanently, at any time, from the Profile menu
Account deletion is immediate and permanent. We do not retain deleted data.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your personal content to train AI models. Data is only shared with the third-party service providers listed above, solely to operate the app’s features.
Children’s Privacy
murmr is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated within the app.
